CURRENT PROGRAMS

CENTERS OF WORTH

WomenOne has established a center-based program to support the education and empowerment of at-risk children, especially adolescent girls, in Nanyuki, Kenya. The development of this program, the Center of Worth (CoW), was informed by previous WomenOne research and contextualized with input from our local partners. Two primary offerings of the CoW include: (1) social-emotional and academic counseling opportunities, and (2) life-skills and voc/tech education modules delivered to students during their academic breaks.

EACH CENTER WILL OFFER FOUR FOUNDATIONAL SERVICES:

1.

Formal or Vocational Education

2.

Health Education Outreach

3.

Financial and Digital Literacy Training

4.

Community Outreach

As we know each country, region and community is unique, each Center will also offer contextually appropriate services specific to the beneficiaries. These may include:

HIV/AIDS education/treatment

Early Childhood Development and Parent Literacy Trainings)

Child Care

Psychosocial Counseling and Mentorship

We are currently seeking funds to pilot our first Center of Worth in Thika, Kenya to serve adolescent, out-of-school mothers.

MEDIA SKILLS AND LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP IN JORDAN, 2015

As a continuation of our work started in partnership with Duke University, WomenOne partnered with the International Rescue Committee to develop and facilitate a six-week Media Skills and Leadership workshop in Amman, Jordan for Syrian refugee girls. This workshop provided six participants, ages 14-18, access to video and photography equipment and training and allowed them to document their lives and their surrounding environments. Through this workshop the participants not only learned valuable vocational skills, but also had an outlet to share their unique stories of hardship and hope with the world through artistic expression.
